The Federal Public Defender for the Eastern District of North Carolina provides training and assistance to attorneys in North Carolina who are interested in representing indigent federal defendants in the Eastern District. Those interested in practicing before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina and becoming a Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel Attorney should contact April Bunn. Upon becoming a panel attorney, our office will provide support to all members of the panel, from invitations to our annual seminars, to open invitations to call our staff with questions. Moreover, all of our CJA panel attorneys are encouraged to contact our district's Panel Representative, Christian Dysart, who serves as liason between the CJA Panel and the Judiciary.
Panel Applications are accepted twice a year. On May 15th and November 15th.
See Guidelines for Joining CJA Panel for additional information.
